This Women’s Polytechnic was incepted during 1984 with a view to empower the women in the field of Technical Education. This is the unique women polytechnic in this district of Visakhapatnam. Initially started with two courses only i.e. DCCP & DECE in temporary buildings. Later shifted to the existing, the then new building and was inaugurated by the then Chief Minister on 07-04-1990. Subsequently another two courses i.e. DCME and DCE were introduced during 1998 and 2008 as per the rising demand in the two disciplines with an intake of 60. Every year 240 students are joining. Most of the students are from rural background, but with higher discipline and academic aptitude. There is an attached Hostel with G+Two storied building that can accommodate 300-350 students. Students, who are taking admission here, are very successful at their studies and some are achieving state ranks and prestigious Prathibha awards as well. The strength of Pratibha awardees is 6 students in the year 2014, 8 in 2017 and 10 in 2018. In Sports also our students are leading. In (IPSGM) Inter Polytechnic sports and Games our students excelled in many events. Also our students participated in inter Polytechnic TECH FEST recently conducted on 23^rd September,2018 at AU Convection center, Visakhapatnam. This Institution develops Industry-Institution Interaction with many Industries in and around Bheemunipatnam. Recently, Visakhapatnam Steel Plant visited our Institution and Extended their helping hand through CSR and granted Rs.22.93 lakhs for development of Workshop building. This Institution maintain good MOU with certain Technical Institution who conducted Seminar/workshop to our students(Tech team solutions, Visakhapatnam,Sri tech solutions, Visakhapatnam,Tammina infotech , Visakhapatnam,Zenim consulting and development services , Visakhapatnam, etc..). The ECE Section of this Institution conducted 4 industrial Seminars in this Semester and telecast through out the State through virtual class room. The organization like Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, Indian Meteorology department, Coromandel fertilizers limited, BSNL etc have taken better part in this Seminar. All class rooms of this Institution are converted on digital class rooms equipped to telecast and receive video classes and conferences with CTE office and SBTET. The office of this Institution is connected to the District and State Administration through e-office. All the students and staff are actively participating in Polycet Campaign every year as per the directions and guidance of the Spl. Commissioner of Technical Education and approving the intake of admissions. Also actively participating in the Janmabhoomi activities of the state and any other programmes time to time advised by the department. The Institution have 28 dedicated faculty in all the branches and 36 Non technical/office staff and Sub-ordinate service personal who bestow their personal attention always towards all kinds of academic and administration development of this Institution.
